Field Leader - Beach Maintenance

About The Role:

You’ll lead a small crew to deliver high-quality beach maintenance across our coastline - planning daily tasks, interpreting plans and work orders, allocating resources, and ensuring sand-drift fencing and related works are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification. You’ll set the tone for safety leadership, operational excellence, customer experience and people experience, while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and contractors and monitoring performance standards on site.

About You:

• You have experience leading (or a strong willingness and capability to lead) field teams - motivating others, mentoring on the job, and driving effective performance. 
• You have a Certificate III in Civil Construction or related field and/or bring hands‑on demonstrated experience in beach or civil maintenance, including interpreting plans/work orders and coordinating suppliers/contractors.
• You communicate clearly with the community and colleagues and build effective working relationships.
• You’re tech-comfortable - able to use Microsoft tools and apply your skills in Council systems to complete records, timesheets and work orders. 
• You solve problems proactively - spotting issues early and choosing safe, practical solutions. 
• You understand safe operations of civil plant/equipment and WHS responsibilities.

About Our Team:

City Maintenance are equipped to care for open spaces across our beaches, reserves and parks, ensuring they are maintained and up to standard. This diverse portfolio is passionate and skilled in areas including property management and repair, irrigation, biodiversity, arboriculture, trees and sports turf, as well as program scheduling.                

The Parks and Biodiversity team is responsible for maintaining local parks, streetscapes, open space areas, biodiversity sites and nominated Council properties. The team provide and maintain innovative, accessible and flexible public places and spaces that are fit for purpose for our community.

The Detail:

The position is offered on a full-time, permanent basis and is classified at Level ME8, with a starting salary of $80,312.46 per annum + Super. The benefits of joining the City of Charles Sturt also include:
